Honed Stone Countertops

Are you like so many other homeowners who are updating your kitchens and bathrooms? Like them, you may have decided to replace your countertops with stone products. However, you may be looking for a way to distinguish your stone countertop from those of your friends and neighbors. One way to do this is to choose a honed finish. These are the honed stone options you may consider.

Honed Travertine or Limestone

If you are looking for a more natural, casual stone countertop, look at travertine or limestone. These stones are often sold in a honed finish. Although granite and marble stones offer many more color varieties, travertine and limestone have more extensive texture or pattern varieties. These more neutral-colored stones are common choices for bathrooms and utility rooms. The tan, beige and grey stones also have natural pits that are filled after cutting to produce a solid surface. If you are looking for a rustic countertop, look no further than honed travertine or limestone.

Honed Granite

Granite has become one of the most popular countertop materials. These stones come in a wide variety of colors. However, most people choose to have their granite polished rather than honed. However, only a few of the most popular colors or those that look the best honed are available in this finish. For example, various black granites have become popular, and this finish gives each of these options a very different look. It looks more organic and natural than the modern feel of high-gloss finishes. Honed granite creates a more comfortable or casual ambiance.

Honed Soapstone and Slate

Honed finishes are the primary method of finishing these stones. However, flamed and leathered textures are also popular. You rarely see a high-polish slate or soapstone. Whereas slate has significant patterning and color variations, soapstone doesn’t have much patterning and its coloring is in the grey and charcoal hues. Both of these stones have a similar feel and offer solid surfaces with a similar eggshell sheen. These natural, softer, honed stones produce casual environments.

You can have a comfortable, unique kitchen and bathroom by simply choosing a different finish on your stone countertop.
